Internal funding: SURE (to hire undergrad researchers)

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to share this annual call for applications for the Supplement for Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) internal funding program. SURE awards are used by faculty recipients to provide hourly salaries to undergraduate research assistants who are in their first four semesters as students at UMBC.

As in recent years, we are combining the SURE application process with the application to create a Federal Work Study position. That is, by applying for a SURE award, you are also making your position description available for prospective FWS student applications, who would be paid for by FWS funds.

If you are applying for SURE, participation in the FWS supervisor training on June 29, 2022 is strongly encouraged (sign up here). The deadline for FWS and SURE is July 18, 2022. Requests after this date will still be considered for FWS, but many students will already have started looking for FWS jobs in late July, and the SURE selection process will be based on the applications received by the July 18th deadline.
