UMB Institute for Clinical & Translational Research (ICTR) Funding Opportunities

The UMB Institute for Clinical & Translational Research (ICTR) invites UMBC participation on proposals to the current cycle of their annual ATIP and CEnR funding programs:


  • The ATIP Grant program provides funds for projects focused on innovative, translational research that involve faculty from the UMB Schools of Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, or Graduate Studies; and UMBC or UMCP. Funding is provided through the UMB ICTR internal funding mechanism. There are two types of ATIP opportunities:
    • ICTR Innovative Collaboration Pilot Grant
    • ICTR Artificial Intelligence/Cybersecurity/Machine Learning Pilot Grant
  • The CEnR Pilot Grant program provides starter funds for projects specifically focused on innovative CEnR to test novel approaches to addressing health problems through community-engaged implementation that involve faculty from the UMB Schools of Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, or Graduate Studies; UMBC, UMCP, and UMB-community partnerships. Funding is provided through the UMB ICTR internal funding mechanism.
For both ATIP and CEnR:
  • Eligibility: Faculty at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), or University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). UMBC and UMCP applications must include a UMB Co-PI. Research Associates, Instructors, Adjunct or visiting faculty are not eligible to apply.
  • Award Size: up to $50,000 in direct costs
  • Intent to Apply Form Deadline: Sunday, October 19, 2025, 11:59 pm EST
  • Application Deadline: Thursday, October 30, 2025, 5 pm EST
  • Grant Period: May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027; Awardees announced first quarter 2026
