Congratulations to our Akaras Book Award Winner, Agata Ambrozewicz!

The Dresher Center is pleased to announce that Agata Ambrozewicz has been awarded the 2026 Mary Akaras Scholarship Book Award. 

A returning English major, Agata is a dedicated humanities student who engages deeply with complex texts and contributes thoughtfully in every class. She is an accomplished poet and an active translator of Polish poetry, with a recent translation accepted for publication in a scholarly journal. In addition, she will soon undertake an independent study on feminist translation practices with Professor Jessica Berman. We are excited to support her continued growth as a scholar in the humanities at UMBC. Congratulations Agata!
